Awards at the World Champion Cheese Contest in Wisconsin 18 March might provide a clue as to why the Swiss hold the world record for eating cheese. First and second place awards went to Swiss cheesemakers.

    Although it pains me to admit it, the Swiss Gruyere is better than the French Comte, essentially the same cheese. However, I think the French goat milk cheeses are unmatched.

    I agree completely, and I love Gruyère too. You should try Beaufort from Savoie if you get a chance. It seems closer to Gruyère than Comté. One of my favorites!
